Hashim was born and raised in Maryland, but has called several places around the world home. After receiving his undergraduate degree in Korean language and culture, he lived and taught in Korea for 3 years before moving on to volunteer as a part of the Peace Corps in Armenia. After his time in the Peace Corps was cut short due to the pandemic, he decided to continue his education at the Middlebury Institute of International Studies in Monterey, where he studied and received his master's degree in international education management. Hashim's professional experiences have always revolved around education in one form or another. From his student support work in Costa Rica to teaching in classrooms overseas, he has always found value in supporting youth inside and outside the classroom.
