Culture of Giving

As we enter September and near the holiday season—a time traditionally marked by generosity and giving—it’s important to reflect on how we can make a difference in our communities. In the midst of pleas to support campaigns or broader global causes, it’s more apparent than ever for organizations to build a culture of giving that goes beyond financial contributions and embraces a mindset of generosity.

October marks the beginning of the most significant fundraising season for nonprofits like Digital NEST. A significant percentage of donations are made between October and January as people focus on giving back. The spirit of giving doesn’t have to be limited to monetary donations, either. It can be contributions through time, resources, and support for causes that matter to drive meaningful change during a season when it’s needed most.

Walk the Talk

Building an authentic culture of giving takes time and consistent effort. It’s more than writing checks—it’s about fostering a commitment to the greater good through community partnerships, volunteer work, and collective support. At Digital NEST, we believe in “walking the talk,” so we are launching our culture of giving during our end-of-year campaign celebrating a decade of empowering youth and transforming lives.

Instead of beginning the campaign by asking our team to donate, we encourage them to share it with their networks and remind others of the season’s spirit. We understand that everyone’s financial situation varies, and giving back isn’t only about money. Time, connections, and even spreading the word can make a meaningful difference. As the holidays approach, we hope to inspire a mindset of generosity within our staff and beyond.

Support the NEST

If you’re looking for ways to support the community, consider Digital NEST. We create opportunities for youth to explore new career paths and achieve their dreams. So far, we have expanded into five communities (Watsonville, Salinas, Gilroy, Modesto, and Stockton), enrolled over 4,000 members in our programs, and have hired an unprecedented 57 interns who are gaining valuable work experience and building impactful careers.

There are many ways to support both a culture of giving and the NEST at the same time:

  • Nominate Digital NEST as your company’s “Nonprofit of the Month.”
  • Check if your workplace offers donation matching or suggest implementing it to double the impact.
  • Partner with bizzNEST, our team of interns who provide affordable, high-quality services for businesses.
  • Mentor an intern and guide them as they navigate their career paths.
  • Hire our youth by sharing internship and job opportunities.
  • Spread the word—it is as easy as sharing this blog with your network!

Your support, whether through time, resources, or financial contributions, helps shape the future of Digital NEST’s next generation of bright, young talent. As always, consider donating to help us continue empowering youth to find their path and create their future while making a lasting community impact.
