Digital NEST is proud to announce the opening of a new AT&T Connected Learning CenterSM inside our Salinas NEST. Bringing expanded access to technology, high-speed internet, and digital skill-building opportunities to the community. This state-of-the-art lab, made possible through a collaboration with AT&T and the Hispanic Federation, is one of 25 new centers AT&T is supporting nationwide in 2025 and the 17th to open in California.

The Connected Learning Center strengthens Digital NEST’s mission to provide Latinx and underserved youth with the skills, resources, and network needed to launch thriving careers.

“Digital NEST provides Latinx and all underserved youth in California with the skills, resources, and network to build and launch successful careers,” said Aliyah Nance, Chief Administrative Officer, Digital NEST. “By working with AT&T to open this Connected Learning Center on site, our community now has unparalleled access to free technology, training, and connectivity they need to unlock new opportunities for education, careers, and creative expression.”

Expanding Access Where It’s Needed Most

Across the country and in California, too many families still face barriers to reliable internet and digital devices. These challenges limit access to school, work, and essential services. In California alone, an estimated 41% of low-income households lack full digital access.

“Access to reliable, high-speed internet is a basic necessity for learning, working, and staying connected,” said Dennis Donohue, Mayor, City of Salinas. “This collaboration between AT&T and Digital NEST is an investment in our community’s future, one that will empower students, families, and entrepreneurs in Salinas to thrive in today’s digital economy.” The new Connected Learning Center at Digital NEST is designed to meet those needs by offering:

  • Free high-speed AT&T Fiber internet and Wi-Fi
  • Dell OptiPlex computers with integrated audio and webcams
  • Access to The AchieverySM, AT&T’s free digital learning platform
  • Free digital literacy courses in partnership with the Public Library Association
  • Tutoring and mentoring are supported by AT&T employees and community partners

The Hispanic Federation, a supporter of Digital NEST and digital equity nationwide, funded the computer lab.

“The careers shaping our future increasingly require strong digital skills, yet far too many underserved communities still face barriers to accessing the training and tools needed to pursue those opportunities,” said German Cash, California State Director for Hispanic Federation. “Our collaboration with AT&T and Digital NEST is about expanding real pathways for people to build those skills and participate fully in the tech-driven workforce. By investing in accessible learning spaces today, we are helping ensure more of our community is prepared for the jobs of tomorrow.”

Bridging the Digital Divide Together

AT&T’s Connected Learning Centers are part of the company’s broader commitment to help 25 million people get and stay connected to high-speed internet by 2030. These centers are intentionally placed within trusted community-based organizations like Digital NEST, who are already deeply embedded in supporting youth and families.

“We’re proud to bring a brand-new Connected Learning Center to Salinas in collaboration with Digital NEST,” said Dr. Bettye Saxon, Manager, External Affairs, AT&T California. “Digital NEST has a proven record of empowering youth and families through digital literacy and career development, and this new center brings even more opportunity to this wonderful community. AT&T is committed to helping Californians obtain the tools and access they need to succeed in our connected world.”

As part of this initiative, Dell Technologies has donated state-of-the-art Dell OptiPlex computers, and World Wide Technology is supporting configuration and installation.
